London Winter Guide 2019
It's no secret, London is the place to be in winter. With is bright and busy streets adorned with festive decorations on every corner, we couldn't help but put together a winter guide for the city that never sleeps!
Walthamstow Village & God’s Own Junkyard
Tucked away in North East London, you’ll find Walthamstow Village. A pleasant blend of 12th, 15th and 16th century churches and houses, along with the upmarket Orford Road. Make sure to stop in at it’s small restaurants, independent coffee shops and charming pubs.
Just around the corner is God’s Own Junkyard, a beautiful, psychedelic neon paradise. Take in the light and revel in the absurd neon sculptures that fill the warehouse.
Southbank Winter Market
The River Thames sneaks through London from West to East and is worthy of its own winter list. If you find yourself on the south side of the river, be sure to stop by Southbank’s Winter Market. With more mulled wine that you can imagine and a fantastic selection of food including Jimmy’s Lodge. Who wouldn’t want to dine in a giant igloo overlooking the Thames?
Ice Skating At Somerset House
Sitting on the south-side of Strand in central London, the impressive and large Somerset House first opened its doors in 1796. During the winter, its majestic neoclassical central courtyard transforms into an open-air ice rink. Take some time out and skate to your heart's content whilst surrounded by rich history.
Backyard Cinema
A long time favourite of film, music, food and beer lovers; Backyard Cinema could be your new favourite thing in town. West of London’s busy centre in Wandsworth, you’ll find Backyard Cinema’s Winter Night Garden with live music, a drinks terrace, artisan pizza, captivating theatrics, an exotic cocktail lounge, vegan street food, craft beer and of course, a selection of festive films. One trip here and we guarantee you’ll be full of that festive feeling.
Little Venice & Broadway Market
If it’s a picture-postcard setting you’re after this winter, look no further than Little Venice. A short walk from Paddington Station sits London’s very own Venice with its winding canals, regency white terraced buildings, cosy restaurants, bars and theatres.
If you’re feeling adventurous, why not wrap up warm and take a ride along the canal? Little Venice to Broadway Market in Hackney; another picture-perfect spot full of character and a warm communal feeling.
